Madame Grès, the designer, was formally trained as a sculptor. Her signature designs were pleated, warped gowns, created on mannequins without the use of patterns. ‘‘Grès’’ is French for sandstone, which becomes one of the key elements of this branding project. As well as minimalism, and art to celebrate and honour the designer’s background.
